The Beginning of a story

Out of a cloud of dust he appeared. No one knows from where he came, only that he is here now, One moment the earth has not even a hope to survive and the next it has one. He stands alone, not a word left spoke for a million miles. Then he spoke.

“I am here, I am all you have. Do not praise me, do not criticize me, I am only doing my duties.”

And just as quickly as he appeared; he vanished.

I and a hundred others stand breathlessly in the city centre. Everyone visible is confused by what they just saw, including me. Just moments before, we saw a dark figure of a man appear out of no where and try to tell us he is the savior we have been waiting for.  I, like many others wonder whether he is actually a godsend or just another creation by the Viigo factory. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if it was. Stranger things come out of that building everyday.

Aimlessly I make my way back to my delapitated apartment block.  It seems that the more I walk up these lonely dark stairs, the longer they are. It seems like an eternity to me before I reach my door. Room 101. I used to find that funny.

I slowly make my way to the bathroom, stumbling over the large amount of garbage strewn across the floor. Leaned over the sink, I splash water in my face.

“I know who you are and I know why you are here”, the voice seems to come from every direction.

“Who is there? Show yourself.” I slowly reach for the knife laying on the sink.

Out of no where the same figure that appeared in the city centre stands right before me. Acting first and thinking later, I take a swipe at the figure with my blunt knife falling over onto the floor. He was gone.

I remained laying on the floor for a couple minutes, still recovering from what had just happened.

“Knock, knock” a loud pounding sound coming from the door.

Grabbing the sink I pull myself up, and make my way to the door.

“Whose there?”

No answer. A awkward silence fills the air.

“If you aren’t going to answer me, I’m not opening the door.”

“I don’t need you to”, the voice comes from across the room.

Behind me, the mysterious figure stands motionless.

“What do you want from me?”

“I want you to drop that knife.”

Against my will and against my instincts, I drop the knife. The clattering noise echoes off the walls as it breaks the silence.

“What does Viigo want from me now? I quit a month ago, I haven’t told anyone about anything.”

The figure remains floating in the middle of my room. I still can’t make out whether its human or robot.

“I am not from Viigo. But that is.”

“Huh?”

The door behind me bursts open with a cloud of dust. A robotic figure stands in the door way.

“I do not know what you want, but I haven’t done anything wrong”, I plead.

The eyes of the robotic figure turn from a pleasant green to a crimson read, even I know what that means. I quickly dive behind the couch to the right and cover my head. A few seconds pass. I didn’t hear a sound. The quietness makes me think for a second that I might be dead.

A steady hand grabs the back of my tattered shirt and pulls me to my feet. The mysterious figure is still here. I am still alive. Quickly coming to, I shoot a glance to the doorway. Gone. The robot that stood there a few seconds before is no longer there, only a blank doorway remains.

.. and thats all I have for now. Feel free to comment :) .
