How Much Are You Worth To Social Networks?
0Everytime you use a website – such as tweeting on Twitter, posting a photo to Facebook or uploading a file to Dropbox, you contribute some money to that respective company’s revenue. But how much does each user earn for a website? How much is every tweet worth? Lucky for you, we have the answer.
Backupify has calculated the value of every user for all the main social websites by dividing the company’s valuation by the number of users. Here’s how it breaks down:
- Dropbox – $80.00 per user
- Facebook – $118.34
- Foursquare – $40.00
- Instagram – $18.52
- LinkedIn – $104.46
- Path – $12.50
- Pinterest – $28.09
- Twitter – $71.43
- Yelp – $21.21
To get the value of each tweet or pin, backupify then divided each company’s annual revenue by the number of items shared, post or uploaded on each service:
- Facebook post – $0.024
- Foursquare check-in – $0.40
- LinkedIn search – $0.124
- Path update – $0.50
- Tweet – $0.001
- Yelp review – $9.13
Based on these statistics, Facebook earns 24 times more per post than Twitter does. These numbers are roughly calculated, as $9.13 for a Yelp review seems a little high.
