Two armed assailants in Pittsburgh were unable to rob a blind man wielding a kitchen pot early Saturday morning.
The blind man had just returned home from walking his dog when the assailants, posing as gas company workers, knocked on his door and told him they were going through the neighbourhood shutting off gas meters. The man let the pair in and led them into his basement, where they assaulted him.
The men tried to restrain the victim by using a stun gun and hitting him in the head with a gun.
The homeowner managed to escape to his kitchen where he grabbed a kitchen pot and fought his attackers, yelling “John, call the police,” to make them believe someone else was home.
The fake gas workers then fled the scene, leaving behind the man who was later taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
