The Price of Bacon Set to Soar Amid New Laws In Europe
0Consumers are being warned that the price of bacon is set to rise significantly next year as many European producers have quit the industry following new laws that govern animal welfare.
In the US, The National Pig Association have seen a 25% rise in the cost of pig feed ingredients, which has made it difficult for many producers to turn a profit.
In the past, the UK was able to produce 40% of their own pork – but these new laws will cause a rise in imported meat.
While the costs are unknown, it could be similar to the price of eggs when it saw a 75% price jump a year ago.
