A Promise I Have Kept For The Past 14 Months
2“The Hungry and Foolish will give you something to talk, think and laugh about with friends”
I said those exact words over a year ago when I founded The Hungry and Foolish back in April of 2011. Back then, I set out to do something grand; something brave.
My vision was to entertain my readers and give them something to share with their friends.
It started off small.
In the beginning, it was only my close friends who visited. Then came the friends of those friends. And then friends in other countries. And then other continents. Fast forward to now and thousands of people are checking The Hungry and Foolish everyday from all over the globe.
I’ll be honest, I was surprised at how fast The Hungry and Foolish expanded over the course of 14 months. After all, it was only a short while ago I was watching the video of Steve Job’s Stanford commencement speech (which I highly recommend you watch) when I was inspired to start something new.
In that speech he said: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
With that in mind, I decided to found The Hungry and Foolish and do what I love and what I considered to be great work.
It wasn’t always easy. Over the past year I’ve had my share of tribulations, but I’ve never lost focus. In many ways, having this creative output helped me pull through those hard times.
Despite all the major changes that The Hungry and Foolish has went through this past year – I kept the promise I made to myself 14 months ago: stay hungry and stay foolish.
As I head into another year of unknown territory, I’ll make the same promise to you.
I will stay hungry.
I will stay foolish.
And from you, I hope for the same.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
Sincerely,
Kevin Wild
Founder of The Hungry and Foolish
