Mythbusters Proves That Jack Didn’t Have to Die
1SPOILER ALERT:
To recap what happened at the end of the Titanic, Jack and Rose fell into the water because the unsinkable ship – sank. Jack lifted Rose onto a wooden door to keep her dry and failed to get on himself. After the one valiant try to save himself, Jack gave up and sank aimlessly into the ocean.
The final scene has been discussed over and over on the Internet, and last month James Cameron came out and finally responded, claiming that it wasn’t a question of room, but of buoyancy. If Jack had climbed onto the door with Rose, the whole thing would’ve sank, killing them both.
Once Mythbusters got wind of this debate, they decided to prove everyone wrong like they always do. They discovered that if Rose had just tied her lifejacket underneath the plank, the added buoyancy would’ve been able to easily support them both.
What does James Cameron say to that? “The script says Jack dies. He has to die.”
A little morbid, don’t you think?
