Want A Copy of the Internet?
0You, yes you, can have a copy of the Internet for absolutely nothing.
But unfortunately having a copy of the Internet isn’t as exciting as it sounds. The Internet Archive is giving away pieces of the web for research pieces: “we would like to experiment with offering access to one of our crawls from 2011 with about 80 terabytes of WARC files containing captures of about 2.7 billion URIs. The files contain text content and any media that we were able to capture, including images, flash, videos, etc.”
Keeping in line with Internet statistics, this download will consist of around 78 terabytes of porn, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
If you are interested in owning a piece of the web and have 80 terabytes of external storage kicking around, download the Internet here (it just sounds so badass).
